Blue Coat ProxySG Deployment

In a typical WAF deployment, ProxySG is deployed in a DMZ front-ending a server farm. ProxySG is integrated with Content Analysis System and Malware Analysis System via ICAP.

A user requests a URL. Depending on policy, ProxySG can check to see if the user is authenticated and authorized to access the resource with the Identity Provider such as a LDAP server.

The ProxySG checks the geo location of the user via geo location IP database lookup.

If traffic is SSL encrypted, the ProxySG can decrypt the data and send the traffic in clear to the Security Analytics Platform using the encrypted TAP feature.

If the user is tries to upload content, the file can be sent to the Content Analysis System for malware scanning. Unrecognized or suspicious files can be sent to the Malware Analysis appliance for deeper analysis via sandboxing. Finally, the ProxySG reaches the web server and receives content for the client.
